My journey as a first time Surrogate

Getting my body back…just to lose it again.

So I decided it is time to get in shape for this pregnancy. I will admit, I should have done this a long time ago. I have been gradually losing weight since my last pregnancy and I do weigh less now then I did when I got pregnant before. My goal right now is to lose 5 pounds by the embryo transfer which is in about a month. I think this is a realistic and obtainable goal! In fact, I know it is. So to get me going I started a Bikram hot Yoga class. My plan is to attend at least twice a week and so far that hasn’t happened, I have been once. It’s so hard to find the time to attend a 90 minute class…but, it needs to be done. When I can’t find the time to go to yoga I plan to start swimming, running, and biking. Once I am pregnant I will continue to exercise; walking, swimming, pretty much anything low impact. I bought a workout DVD called, “The Perfect Pregnancy Workout” so that should be fun to try! All in all, I plan to have a very healthy pregnancy.

Along with exercising I need to start changing the way I eat. This is going to be the hardest part for me. I need to cut back on the caffeine and sweets. Once the transfer happens that will be the end of caffeine all together. Sigh… I love my morning coffee. So I think it is time to start gradually weaning off of it. I also need to start eating a more balanced diet. More veggies, less carbs. Sigh…I also really love my carbs! It will all be worth it though! I want my body to be ready for this baby, inside and out. To me it’s like when a tenant rents a property, they want a clean and safe living environment. I’m kinda like the property owner, I am renting out my uterus and it is my job to supply a safe and nurturing living environment for the baby. LOL! :-)

Here is the workout DVD. I don’t think I can ever get that buff!

  1. That DVD looks intense. I want to try it with you! ;-) Good for you for having the motivation to work out considering your upcoming pregnancy. Usually it’s the other way around :-P

  2. You should do it with me! :-)
